Man sells rock, Native Americans complain

So this guy “Darryl Pitt” is selling a chunk of a meteorite that he legally owns and a native American tribe (the Clackama tribe) is crying that it’s a “holy rock” sent to earth by the “Sky People”?

Oh. My. God. You have got to be kidding me. I don’t care what anyone says, people who believe things like this are PROOF that we evolved from monkeys.

HELLOOO!!! IDIOTS!!!!!!  There are no such things as Sky People. And even if there was, what the hell kind of gifts are they giving us? Giant chunks of stone?!

Apparently the 30 pound slice of meteorite is expected to bring in over $1 million! If the Clackama tribe wants it so bad, why don’t they use some of their casino and tax-free cigarette profits to buy it?

Siobahn Taylor of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, which includes the Clackamas, remarked of the upcoming auction:

“We are deeply saddened that any individual or organization would be so insensitive to Native American spirituality and culture as to traffic in the sale of a sacred and historic artifact.”

The owner of the rock does have sympathy for the Clackamas, saying:

“I’m saddened by their being saddened. While I regret the Grand Ronde has taken offense, the bottom line is that a portion of the meteorite is simply changing hands.”

Hahaha! I love that quote! (Although I must admit that I am saddened by the sadness that the Clackama sadness has inflicted upon Darryl).

Hmmm. You sound a tad too self-righteous here, thinking you are more educated than these Native American folk. How you also tend to speak in this article makes you sound as a teenager. If you are as intelligent as you claim, reword this article and explain better why Sky People do not exist.

Charz, I’ve gotta say that i’m a little surprised!
I logged on today after a 36 hour computer abstinence to find your comment on my site. (I’m not a coward or afraid of criticism so I won’t delete it. Oddly enough, I can’t find the comment I left on your blog… a computer glitch, i’m sure…)
OK, I’ll answer your points – but out of order, if you don’t mind.
    1. “If you are as intelligent as you claim” – when did I claim that I am intelligent?
    2. “You sound a tad too self-righteous here, thinking you are more educated than these Native American folk” – when did I claim to be more educated than anyone?
    3. “How you also tend to speak in this article makes you sound as a teenager” – if having fun when I write makes me sound like a teenager, then I guess it’s ipods and Brittney (sp?) Spears for me!!
    4. “reword this article and explain better why Sky People do not exist” – I saved this one for last because i’m going to use Caps Lock.
    a) You are simply trying to play devil’s advocate here, because you also do not believe in “Sky People” – thus giving you the title of “hypocrite”

WHAT!? If you were serious about your religion. I’m sure you are not. You would actually understand how they worship the sky people. FOr your #2 you said that you didn’t claim that you thought yourdelf as more intellligent. The way you wrote the atriclle just explains that you treat the indians as an inferior and as slaves… well almost. I think that you should go into their shoes and think about it a bit. SKy People may exist. They might be beings that send down meteoritest that are ecoded ina some radiation that we ahven’t discovered rendering us the diots.

**sluggabohn says: Ok dreamweaver (love the song!), I realize that the laws against marijuana are a bit archaic and draconian, however when you “partake” give yourself a little time to come down before you post a comment. My religion? My religion is atheism (if you call that a religion) I don’t believe in boogie-men, sky people, jehovah, allah, santa claus, or the trix rabbit. Now I realize that the sudden knowledge of the unrealistic nature of 2 or more of these comic book characters may shock you. So, go back to your studio apartment (or the room over your mom’s garage), pack the bowl real good, and try to find something else to give your dreary life some meaning.

    Mornin’ Slugga
I would dearly have loved to comment on the dreamer’s reply but you seem to have coped admirably … except for one very small point … ‘The encrypted message’ that I left for you earthlings indelibly etched in ‘that rock’ with the very latest zeta radiation meteorite etcher !
Have a nice day, come back and see us sometime, missing you already !

A Sky Person (a much better reception than terestrial)
